Alex Lange is Becoming A Force for The Tigers With The Trending Interview

On April 13, the Detroit Tigers had lost six straight games, and Alex Lange was coming out of the bullpen to pitch the ninth.
Just above him, Blue Jays fans were chanting “Turtle-neck! Turtle-neck!”
Maybe that’s when Lange’s favorite undershirt became an everyday thing. Lange got his first save of the season by stopping the Blue Jays. Since that night, the Tigers are 13–9, and their shaky bullpen is suddenly as good as any in the league. Lange has been the most important reliever for the Tigers. And Lange’s sleeveless turtleneck is the most well-known piece of clothing.
Now in 2023, we are seeing the best version of Lange unlocked. His curveball last season was among the elite swing-and-miss pitches in baseball. He has continued that so far this season, using the pitch 57 percent of the time and generating a 47.3 percent whiff rate.
Monday night in Cleveland, the Tigers held a 6-2 lead with two outs in the ninth inning. It wasn’t strictly a save situation, but the Guardians had a runner on base and their order was about to ascend.
Lange was summoned from the bullpen by Hinch, and despite walking Myles Straw, he secured the final out without much effort. It was the sixth victory in seven games for the Tigers.
“This team deserved to win,” Hinch said, “and our best pitcher was in at the end.”
After earning the save in the Detroit Tigers’ 5-4 win over St. Louis, Alex Lange was interviewed and dropped incredible words.
He was questioned about the effectiveness of his curveball and fastball, as well as how he used those two pitches to strike out the side in the ninth inning.
His answer? Do you want to guess?
“My job is just to chill and make pitches.”
